About Me

My photo
I retired on March 11th 2014 after 26 years as a doctors receptionist. I am now looking forward to the freedom to enjoy my days doing anything I wish to. Spending time with family, catching up with friends. Playing in my Scrappy Shack, scrapbooking, cardmaking, art journalling, quilting, gardening, baking. Spending wonderful times with my beloved other half. I am so looking forward to this time in my life.

Update

Not much crafting being done, my mojo has emigrated and I am thinking of selling up.
Mike is fully recovered Thank The Lord.
Conor is due home for two weeks R&R on December 30th, so Christmas will be late in our family this year. We will celebrate Christ's birthday quietly and have our party when the boy is home.
I have just spent a week in hospital and now have a heart condition. I was discharged on Friday and I am having trouble coming to terms with what has happened.  But hey, I'm alive, I have the chance to change some things, ie. weight and diet.

Thanks for calling by.

WOYWW

Yes it's me again, turning up intermittently, full of good intentions. Not had much time for crafting of any sort over the past couple of weeks.

But now my grandson Conor is in Afghanistan and I cannot sleep for thinking about him I thought, I will go a pay an early visit to WOYWW.

Here are some photo's of the finished book I made for Conor to take with him. I gave it to him just before he left. My idea was to produce a book/photo album that a Second World War soldier may have cobbled together. My family and friends thought it was fabulous, but they are not crafters of any sort.

I  am quite pleased with it, a very personal creation made with so much love, there were tears shed on several occasions over the weeks.  Conor was very touched astounded at the secrecy there had been in the weeks leading up to his being deployed and no one had let the cat out of the bag so to speak. The whole family contributed with photo's and letters and even the youngest didn't say anything to him about it.

Family letters in pockets.

My Rosary.

A prayer for Conor's safety.

Finished Book and Bag.
This is the first book I have ever made, it is far from prefect. But made with love and pride and filled with so many family hopes and good wishes it should keep him safe until he is home again in
April 2013.

Please Keep the Prayers Rising

When Mike got to theatre they did an in depth scan and they couldn't find anything!
They did not operate, but he is still in severe pain.  They are going to do more tests and take him to theatre again on Friday.

I believe in Miracles, please keep Praying.

Prayers requested Please.

My son in law Mike, collapsed yesterday whilst out cycling, he has a  brain aneurysm and we hope for an operation tomorrow for him.  May I ask for prayers and healing thoughts for this wonderful husband and father.

Thank you

WOYWW 166

Still working in the kitchen, my album for my grandson is coming along slowly.  I have been taking my time so as not to make any mistakes, but guess what, I made a mistake!! I stuck the outer hinges right down.  No where for the covers to fit, so I have come up with this, hope it works.......
If anyone has any hints or advice about it I would graciously accept any help.
Next step is the cover, heaven help me.....

Now I am late posting so I am nipping over to Lady Dunnit's to see what I have been missing, care to join me?

WOYWW

I have been a little remiss in attending this wonderful weekly treat, there is so much going on at the moment I cannot believe where the time goes. Anyway I am here today and if anyone pops in this is what I am up to.  I am making my first mini envelope album and I am enjoying it to a certain degree, but stressing about it also.  but that is me in a nutshell. The album is for my grandson who is going to Afghanistan in September (Where did that baby go??) I am trying to make it look like a Filofax from the 2nd WW, yes I know they didn't have them then, but the must have had something similar?

So I have chosen brown's and khaki colours and some muted masculine papers.  The photo's show the pages waiting for their hinges, here is the problem, I am rubbish at lining things up straight, so there is a strong possibility this is going to be wonky!  But hey ho, it is being made with love and that is all that matters. I am collecting photo's and messages from all close family members to put in the album so he will have us all close by while he is thousands of miles away in combat.

I did want to make it small enough for him to carry with him always, but my husband very gently advised me it would not be safe for him to carry it in case he was captured and the contents used against him. I was heart broken to think of such an eventuality and had to leave the project alone for over a week.  Then I hit upon the idea I am following now.

As you can see I am back in the kitchen, crafting, not enough workspace in the shed to spread out.

Hopefully I will be back next week, with further pictures of my progress. I have until September to get it finished.  So I am not going to rush it as is my usual trick and then everything goes pear shaped!!

Happy WOYWW.

Now scoot over to the delightful Mrs Dunnit and see some amazing sights.

Thanks for popping by.

WOYWW

More preparations for the retreat. I have got to get the bulk of it finished today ans my husband comes off shift tonight.  He is very patient and giving with me, but when I take over our living space as well as my shack it pushes him a little towards his limit. So getting page kits together is the plan this morning.  Thank you to Scrappymo for the great "tutorial" on packing for a retreat, it was just what I needed.

Just going to pop across to Julia at Stamping Ground to be inspired by creative ladies world wide. Why don't you join me?

Happy WOYWW.

Getting Ready to Retreat

The living room here at the "Shoebox" is looking a little like a craft shop in distress at the moment.  I am getting sorted early for  Rosemary Merry's Scrap Camp next week July 6th to 8th. I always seem to forget something and have to rely on Trish to bail me out.  So this year I am getting sorted early.  All my photo's have been ordered and final batch arrived today. So now I am busy trying to sort papers, cardstock, embellishments etc...

Has anyone any tips for taking "stuff" to retreat's or crops.

Getting Sorted!!

I have had a talk with myself and decided to make "She's Scrappy Shack" my main blog. Getting organised in my shed has made me consider re organising elsewhere, blogging is one of the items on my list. Instead of having several blogs I have not been able to do justice too, I have slimmed down to one.  So you might find me rabbiting on about stuff other than crafting here now. You will find me doing more crafting though so watch this space...

WOYWW

Not a lot going on at the moment on my desk, still in sorting mode with a little play about here and there. I am tickled pink with my new storage for punches though. Saw it on Pinterest on Sunday, ordered from Amazon on Sunday, arrived yesterday, up last night.  Has given me three empty drawers to organise and fill.

Found I can do double decker storage with inserts for my drawers from IKEA, so guess where I am off to later in the week. I reckon I need nine to go with the one I have..lol

Just popping over to Julia's Place for a nosey around other work desks, why don't you join me, come on, you know you want to;o)

WOYWW 155 - Mojo Found and is in Recovery Mode at the Moment

I am not being lazy, I am just really happy with my shed at the moment, so can I refer you to my previous post about the world not coming to an end...

Happy WOYWW now pop over  to Julia and wish her well as she fly's out to her poorly papa.

Sunday 20 May 2012

The World is NOT Coming to An End...honest.... really....oh well don't believe me if you don't want to..

The Scrappy Shack is Clear and ready for Action....No No Nooo Do Not Panic.
If you felt the earth move it may have been me, I have been in there for four and a half hours and it is looking pretty good. My back is broken but the shack looks great.  Thanks to the advice a a little help from my darling the floor can now be seen and I can stand at the work desk and I may even get some crafting done in there before the day is done.

Trouble is I cannot find my camera to take photo's to prove it, but there are still a few hours left of the day, I may still get them posted.....Watch this space.

Found my camera..here is the proof:

I cannot believe the workspace and floorspace I have now.
The question now is: How long will this last?

Let's wait and see.

Thanks for visiting.

WOYWW 154

Don't all faint with shock, yes this is inside my
Scrappy Shack
instead of my kitchen.
I am finally able to get to the workspace, but I have a serious problem with too much "Stuff"
These two little treasures were bought up at one the antiques shops up at Lady Heyes.
The little cabinet in the front I have had my eye one for about five weeks.  So when it was still there last weekend I decided it needed to come home with me and have a little alteration or two done to it.
When I get round to it is another matter!!!

The wooden contraption behind it is a little treasure my husband found a few weeks ago in the same antiques place.  It is a guillotine, and a very good one at that.  I used it for cutting card for wedding invitations and it was superb. It is over 80 years old too.

If you want to see some superb work desks pop across to Julia's Place and have a nosy, it is okay to be  nosy today. It is all done in the best possible taste as the late lamented Dick Emery would say..

WOYWW

Well I am not sure I  really deserve this as an irregular contributor but keen lurker on WOYWW.
Though I do believe this will be a talisman that will enable the MOJO search to step up a level.  Come back next week and see if it  deserves the faith I have in it. My begging skills got me the badge, now I need to get the creative juices going. The Goddess of the badge is here, go visit, see and feel the power.

Desperately Wanted

Required Urgently

A Mojo of any size, small or large, mine is lost in the oblivion that is my shed and I need one URGENTLY

WOYWW

Today I am confessing to an addiction, I cannot stop buying journals and notebooks. The problem is I then cannot bear to use them!!

Are there any other similar addicts out there?  If there are, can you advise me on how to deal with it.  These two photo's show only those that are in The Shoebox (My home). I also have many in storage and in the Scrappy Shack!

I buy them, stroke them, smell them, but do everything to avoid using them. In fact they are just a symptom of an even bigger problem! The addiction to paper and card has my Scrappy Shack full to bursting.
I would like to use all of these with gay abandon, but cannot.Fear of spoiling a new book comes from being at school. Getting new exercise books at the beginning of the school year. Then blotting the first page with nib pens and black ink.  It ALWAYS happened, right through school.... I think worrying about blotting the books actually ended up sabotaging me.  So I need hints, tips and advice to enable me to open these books and use them.  Cannot think of a better platform that WOYWW provides, thanks to the wonderful Julia Dunnit.

All is Quiet in Scrappy Shack.

Nothing much has been happening due to our break in Scotland last week, and some remodelling and decorating in the Shoebox too. We hare having a family day tomorrow because of the FA Cup Semi Final between Everton and Liverpool, followed by the Grand National. But I am hoping to do a fair amount of crafty stuff starting on Sunday. Here's to a Great result for EVERTON and a very safe sporting spectacular at Aintree.  Have a Wonderful Weekend All

WOYWW

Still not in my Scrappy Shack, but it is improving.

This is what I am itching to get started on, a scrapbook of the weekend in London with two of my gorgeous granddaughters. I got the photo's printed yesterday and I have been collecting  Papermania's Portabello Road collection in the weeks leading up to the weekend along with a few other bits and bob's. So now I am rearing to go.

Pop across and see Julia, the leader of the gang for some delicious show and tell.

WOYWW

Better late than never,t I got her in the end.
Still in a state of flux with my shed, but should be in there for next weeks WOYWW.
My photo today is part of my birthday stash curtsey of my husband.  Not only one ATG but two!!
One for acid free and one for all purpose, he is a gem is my gent.

The rest is from my visit to Blade Rubber Stamps in London on Saturday. I really lovely shop that I would love to live closer too, so I could to some workshops there.

Pop across to the lady who planted the seed of the WOYWW phenomenon at Stamping Ground and see some great work space's.

WOYWW

I'm still working in the kitchen, my shed is a work in progress shall we say. I am working on pages for a Circle Journal I am running with a group of girls who got together at Crab Apple Crafts retreat last year.  This is about my favourite musical, but it doesn't give any clues does it?  If it works out I will post a photo tomorrow. Happy WOYWW Day. Pop over to Julia's Place and see lots of gorgeous work spaces.

Progress is Slow

I have been making slow progress in my shed, hopefully I will have some pictures to share tomorrow. Too much stuff is the problem. I am going to donate some to our local hospice and to my granddaughters schools.

I have managed to do a little crafting, on the Circle Journal that needs sending off by Friday.
Photo's to follow.

Very Simple Wedding Invitations.

Crafting done at kitchen worktop as my Scrappy Shack is unworkable at the moment.

A Month to Sort my Mess

This was my workspace eighteen months ago, when I was very proud of my wonderful  new "Scrappy Shack".

This is the same workspace today.....

And this is the rest of my shed.....
To say I am utterly ashamed
 and overwhelmed by it is
an understatement.

There are thousands of pounds worth of crafting "Stuff" here
but I cannot get to use it as my MoJo is well and truly buried in there.

So I have set myself a mission:
To get it sorted by the end of March.
To show my progress here with weekly photo updates.

Hopefully my creative juices will arrive back at the same time as I find my MoJo and I will get some half decent arty/crafty projects completed.
